Qatari telco Ooredoo has inaugurated a new 10 MW facility in Sohar, Oman, to meet the country’s growing demand for secure, scalable, and efficient data services.
The data centre will provide capacity for 1,200 racks as part of Ooredoo’s effort to support the Oman Vision 2040. Constructed to Level 3+ standards, the facility is designed to ensure increased uptime.
“The launch of this data centre in Sohar represents a strategic milestone for Ooredoo and a key step forward in Oman’s digital transformation,” said Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Al Abri, Chief Technology & Information Officer at Ooredoo Oman.
“By providing robust, secure, and scalable infrastructure, we are enabling businesses to not only meet today’s demands but also future-proof their operations. This investment underscores our commitment to driving innovation, fostering growth, and supporting the broader goals of Oman Vision 2040.”
Earlier this year, Ooredoo Group secured a QAR 2 billion (£410 million) financing deal to accelerate the growth of its data centre and AI business in the MENA region.
