CyrusOne expands data centre capacity in Frankfurt

CyrusOne has purchased land in Hanau, East of Frankfurt, intended for its fifth data centre facility in the area.

The site – Frankfurt V – will offer a critical power capacity of 63 MW and 18,000 sqm of space across two three-story buildings.

Frankfurt V will utilise a closed loop water cooling system alongside other sustainable specifications to reduce water usage.

Construction is scheduled for quarter two of 2023, with the first phase of 9 MW of capacity to be delivered by quarter three of the following year.

CyrusOne’s data centre portfolio in Europe includes facilities across Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam, Paris and Dublin and provides nearly 218 MW capacity.

“Take-up in capacity by hyperscalers continues to drive significant demand for data centre needs across Europe, resulting in near record levels of construction pipeline, particularly in Frankfurt,” said Matt Pullen, EVP and Managing Director Europe, CyrusOne.

“CyrusOne has enjoyed remarkable success in the region and a fifth site in Frankfurt signals our experience in this market and our capability to consistently deliver mission critical capacity and capabilities that our customers have come to depend on.”
