It’s becoming tougher than ever to ensure that you’re choosing the right candidate for the job, with there now a rich pool of applicants in which to choose from. However, TechRank, wants to make that whole process easier, with the recruitment candidate now testing candidates on their tech skills.
Launching across the UK this month, TechRank sources, expertly tests and objectively ranks tech talent. This helps companies ensure that they’re hiring the best candidates, and getting the best return on the investment in new staff. The company will also know whether there are any gaps in a candidate’s skills that it could bolster through training, or help with determining a fair pay scale.
The tech industry is full of top talent, but many competent candidates have lost out on jobs as their skills aren’t always translated well through traditional interviews. This meant that those with lesser technical skills, but who are great at interviews, are often favoured over candidates who may be more suitable for the job.
TechRank is run by tech consultants, and understand the needs of employers and how important it is to find people who have the specific skills required for the job that needs to be done. It tests all candidates objectively. The candidate does the test online, choosing the specific areas that are relevant to their skills, for example a front-end developer would complete a coding challenge in JavaScript that would rank him against all other similar developers that an employer would potentially be interested in.
Candidates who take the tests are logged in the TechRank system and alerted if a suitable job is advertised. Employers can sort candidates by their skill level – far quicker and more accurately than reading through 100s of CVs.
TechRank was co-founded by Gurvinder Singh of Pioneer Labs and was born out of frustration. On its launch, he noted, “We were finding it highly time-consuming and difficult to find great tech talent. It was a constant problem. So, we asked ourselves what needed to change and how this could be facilitated – the answer was clearly testing. It’s great for both the candidate and the employer. We trialled the system in our own business and found that it worked really well. It made a huge difference to Pioneer Labs so we decided to create a version that other businesses could use – and TechRank was born.”
