Huber+Suhner presented some of its latest developments for future data centre connectivity at the recent Cisco Live 2019 event in Spain.
Most pundits are quick to point out that connected devices are set to increase exponentially in the near future so operators must deploy future-proof fibre management systems and technologies to keep up with connectivity and bandwidth demands. Data centres need to deploy more fibre, manage fibre more efficiently and make more connections in limited spaces.
A modular approach to fibre management has led to high packing density, modularity and a clear physical demarcation point in the design of the new cross-connect fibre management system LISA Double Access, which Huber+Suhner presented at the Barcelona show. The system is claimed to be efficient, reliable and easy to manage, minimising potential damage to delicate fibre cabling.
By separating incoming and outgoing connectivity, the access manages and protects a maximum density of 3600 ports per rack. The system allows a universal patch cord length of 3.5 meters within a new 1500 mm rack, saving customers valuable floor space of up to 17%, it is claimed.
“Due to the nature of data centres, the moving, adding and changing of cables is constant,” said Eduardo Lopes, Head of Product Management. “We wanted to develop a tool to make our customers’ lives easier. The new LISA Double Access is a simple and easy-to-use management solution.”
Also on display at Cisco Live 2019 was the second-generation IANOS system, which provides operators with important building blocks for the future-ready data centre.
These can be tailored to each user with a pay-as-you-grow approach. The system enables the use of flexible and future-proof pre-terminated cable systems with Base-2 up to Base-24 connectivity for best-in-class density and scalability as well as for easy and fast installation.
Data rates from 1G to 400G can be achieved and seamlessly integrated to provide ultimate flexibility for the operator, it is claimed. “Data centre operators are constantly forced to adapt to the demands of their environments, which is why it is so important to invest in technology that will grow alongside them,” said Michal Pelikán, Product Manager Fiber Management Systems at H+S.
“The solution can accommodate all of these changes and more. IANOS is our most versatile fibre management platform, with a number of different interchangeable modules and accessories available to cover a broad scope of applications,” he exclaimed.
