Gcore and Graphcore have partnered to launch a new AI cloud cluster in Newport, Wales.
Built with Graphcore’s Intelligent Processing Units (IPUs), the cluster will give companies access to enterprise-scale IT resources
The new cluster in Newport marks the third point of presence (PoP) for Gcore’s AI cloud, which also has sites in the Netherlands and Luxembourg.
The physical location of Graphcore IPUs in the UK allows Gcore to support British companies and public-sector users that require full data sovereignty.
Specifically designed for AI compute, Graphcore’s IPU utilises “a massively parallel Multiple-Instruction Multiple-Data (MIMD) architecture, with ultra-high bandwidth memory placed adjacent to the processor cores, right on the silicon die.”
“The opening of Gcore’s AI cloud cluster in Newport, in partnership with Graphcore, is an important step towards building one of the first European AI infrastructure. This move will enable businesses of all sizes to integrate innovations and easily access cutting-edge AI technology,” said Seva Vayner, Director of Edge cloud Stream at Gcore.
With this new AI cloud cluster launch in Newport, Gcore now has a presence in over 140 regions and has more than 20 cloud locations.
