STACK Infrastructure has announced that it will provide supplemental power capacity to the Swiss energy grid, supporting the Swiss Federal Council’s ‘Winter Reserve’ plan.
The Winter Reserve plan aims to protect the country from potential winter energy shortages. It has outlined several measures aimed at preventing power outages, including holding hydropower, power plant, and generator reserves.
STACK has said that it will provide capacity via its existing emergency generators which can be requested by Swissgrid to protect the security of power supply in the short term.
“STACK has the capacity not only to support our clients’ mission-critical workloads, but also to provide additional energy capacity to the grid, so we are pleased to contribute to the Winter Reserve,” explained John Eland, CEO, STACK EMEA.

The Winter Reserve plan encourages owners of backup power generators to contribute to ensure the continued availability of electricity throughout the country. Participation spans the period of February 15 to April 30, during which time the state can activate the reserve if an electricity shortage is imminent.
