Infosys will transfer Daimler’s High Performance Computing (HPC) workloads to one of Europe’s greenest data centres, Lefdal Mine data centre in Norway.
Daimler, which designs vehicles and automated driving technologies, will shift its HPCs to green infrastructure using Infosys’ Data Centre as a Service (DCaaS) offering in the Nordics region.
Infosys will manage the IT infrastructure in its entirety, while Lefdal Mine data centre will provide the facility.
Lefdal Mine data centre offers one of Europe’s greenest data centre solutions, utilising capacity that is both air-cooled and water-cooled, facilitated by a fjord next to the site with a stable low temperature for effective cooling. Lefdal Mine is subsequently less affected by fluctuations in outside temperatures, and doesn’t require evaporative systems for cooling.
The system provides a PUE ranging from 1.10 to 1.15, depending on UPS configuration and scale of capacity.

Not only will we benefit from natural cooling thanks to the cold weather, our operations will also be run on 100% green energy. This initiative marks another important milestone on our journey to becoming Co2 neutral”.
